BIOGRAPHY

Panagiota Loukakou is a Lawyer at the Supreme Court of Greece (Areios Pagos) (2009) and an Accredited Mediator of the Ministry of Justice (2013) and of the Centre of Effective Dispute Resolution, CEDR, UK.

She is a founding member, together with other mediators, of "DIALOGOS" Company for Commercial and Family Mediatio. www.dialogosdiamesolavisi.gr

She is married to Apostolos Papachristou and mother of three children. Since 1997 she has been a volunteer of the Hellenic Red Cross.

♦  She was born on June 13, 1964. She graduated from Arsakeio Lyceum of Psychiko. She continued her studies at the Law School of the University of Athens in the Department of Law.

♦  In 1990 she became a member of the Athens Bar Association and established her own law office, undertaking cases covering a wide range of general legal practice, with emphasis mainly on Civil Law and particularly Family Law, as well as real estate cases, collaborating with individuals and companies.

♦  During the decade 1995 - 2005, she successfully collaborated as an associate lawyer with the Mutual Insurance Cooperative of the Intercity Bus Service of Attica (KTEL) in compensation cases arising from automobile traffic accidents. For years she has been, among others, an associate lawyer of Shipping Companies providing advisory and litigation services in maritime cases.

♦  She has many years of experience in family disputes and the management of family relationships and has received specialized training from international institutions in Family Mediation (Mikk, IMI), International Child Abduction (LEPCA), and Child Participation in Mediation (CPD). She is a member of the Family Law Association.

♦  She has conducted mediations and co-mediations in Civil and Commercial disputes between companies, as well as Family Mediations, both domestic and cross-border.

♦  She is a member of the Hellenic Association of Mediators, an Accredited Mediation Trainer by International Mediation Consulting, Canada (2015), and an evaluator of mediators.

♦  She has participated as a speaker in conferences and events such as "Mediation in the Lawyer’s Daily Practice" on the topic of family mediation (2014), as well as in the presentation of special seminars for the introduction of lawyers to the institution of mediation at the Athens Bar Association (2014), and on Family Mediation and Mandatory Mediation at the Rhodes Bar Association (2015, 2018).

♦  She has participated as a speaker in the informational event co-organized by the Athens Bar Association and the Organization for the Promotion of Alternative Dispute Resolution (OPEMED) on "Mediation: Risk or Opportunity for the Lawyer" (2017) and writes articles as a member of the communication team of OPEMED to inform the public about the mediation process. www.opemed.gr

♦  She has authored articles in legal journals regarding Mediation and Family Mediation and has appeared on informational television programs about mediation.

♦  She speaks English and French.

♦  She was actively involved in community affairs and from 2006 to 2010 served first as Secretary and subsequently as President of the Parents and Guardians Association of the 1st Primary School of Ymittos.
